Phytel’s sophisticated protocol engine uses data such as demographics and past procedures, tests, diagnoses, and visits to assess each patient’s compliance with up-to-date medical guidelines. Whenever a lapse is detected, the Phytel system flags the patient for an alert. The next time the patient is scheduled to come in for a visit, a Treatment Alert is delivered to the physician’s office on the day of the appointment. Providers can also retrieve Treatment Alerts on demand in the case of walk-in visits.

One of your patients is a 45-year-old man diagnosed with Coronary Artery Disease (CAD). According to current medical standards, this patient should be given a lipid panel test every 12 months. Whenever Phytel detects a period of more than 12 months since this patient has had a lipid panel, the system will tag the patient for a Treatment Alert, which will arrive just before the patient’s next appointment.

Your physicians can integrate their own treatment preferences into Phytel Treatment Alerts. For example, in a special situation a provider could request that Phytel bypass standard treatment recommendations for a particular patient and protocol. Treatment Alerts also permit relevant new information to go back into the patient registry in cases when, for example, a suggested procedure has been performed or a patient declines a particular medical recommendation.
